The article examines the EU Pilot system, which is the main informal procedure for correcting breaches of EU legislation by Member States. After tracing the history of the mechanism, it addresses its functions, the procedural profiles and the subjects involved, as well as the role of citizens and the rules on access to documents. In conclusion, some proposals for amendments are presented.

L’articolo sottopone ad esame il principale procedimento informale di correzione degli inadempimenti statali, ossia il sistema EU Pilot. Dopo aver tracciato l’evoluzione del meccanismo, ne analizza le funzioni, i profili procedurali e i soggetti coinvolti, nonché il ruolo dei cittadini e il regime di accesso ai documenti ad esso relativi. Si conclude con alcune proposte di modifica.
