Bemerkungen zu dem vermeintlichen hapax legomenon entuligma (P.Münch III 142 und Hesych k 2563

This contribution investigates the possible meaning(s) of an alleged hapax legomenon - ἐντύλιγμα - occurring in a list of cloth items from the 6th century AD, P.Münch. III 142. The same word has been proposed as an emendation of a word occurring in Hesych κ 2543 transmitted in a corrupted form by the mediaeval tradition by the German-Dutch philologist Ludwig Abresch, an emendation accepted by Kurt Latte in the text of his Hesych edition. The word ἐντύλιγμα may indicate wrapping, packaging material, a cover, or even a piece of clothing like a shroud or a sock.
