This paper takes into account the impact exerted by outdoor film advertising in the creation of a “hypersexual” urban space in Italy in the late 1950s-early 1960s. Through an archival research conducted on sources related to Italian Catholic culture, the paper examines this process of sexual- isation as a struggle between conflicting cultures in order to control and reconfigure social space in the early years of the Italian consumer society.
