Tra gennaio e luglio: riflessioni sul primo giorno dell'anno civico nelle città dell'impero romano

Through the study of epigraphic documents, the contribution aims at exploring the problem of the date of the beginning of the civic year in the communities of Roman Italy in the light of the measures in force in Rome between the Republican and Imperial ages. It will be also shown how, in some cases, the beginning of the civic year was indipendent from the rules adopted by Roman communities, in favor of local habits.

Il contributo intende analizzare, tramite lo studio della documentazione epigrafica, il problema della data di inizio dell’anno civico nelle comunità dell’Italia romana alla luce degli usi vigenti a Roma tra età repubblicana e età imperiale. Si mostrerà anche come, in taluni casi, l’inizio dell’anno civi- co fosse svincolato dalle regole adottate dalle comunità romane, a favore piuttosto di usi tipicamente locali.
