This paper deals with some aspects of the text and the language of Rabisch (1589), a collection of poems written in different dialects, among which one that is allegedly inspired to the one spoken in the Valley of Blenio. In 1993, these poems were published by Dante Isella, in a critical edition that broke new ground for linguistics, literature and art history. The aim of this article is to discuss some problematic aspects of this edition, which alter the poems’ original linguistic physiognomy, from a phonetic (§2.1), morphological (§2.2), syntactic (§2.3) and lexical (§2.4) point of view. Some other remarks emerged from the inspection of the comment (§3) and of the only sonnet in Genoese, which is deeply indebted to contemporaneous dialectal literature (§4).
