The essay analyzes the CGIL referendum proposal aimed at extending the joint liability of the contracting company for the damages suffered by the employees outsourced in the event of accidents at work. In addition to ensuring full compensation for damages, the referendum aims to give greater effectiveness to the obligations to verify the technical-professional suitability through the value chain and to the coordination and coope- ration duties of companies for workplace safety. Last but not least, the referendum helps to clarify that there must be a relationship of comple- mentarity and not of alternativeness between joint liability and Due Di- lience obligations.
