Abstract

Although the personification of the four winds from the four cardinal points was well attested in funerary literature from the Pyramid Texts and especially the Coffin Texts, it is only in Ptolemaic and Roman times that iconographic representations of the winds appear, arranged within astro- nomical depictions in temples and some coffins. This paper describes the iconography of the four winds through the analysis of the main sources.
