This thesis analyzes the evolution of financial consumer protection legislation within the context of Internet finance in the Chinese legal system, framing its development against historical, political, and social backdrops. The first chapter surveys the fundamental features of the Chinese legal system, tracing its historical evolution and introducing and establishing a comparative method for the study. The second chapter delves into the phenomenon of Internet finance, discussing its definition, growth, and impact on the market, while emphasizing the need for informed consumer protection strategies to ensure a stable economic environment. The third chapter examines a period of deregulation marked by inadequate consumer protections, leading to significant financial scandals. In response, the Chinese government initiated a standardization process, implementing stricter regulations and enhancing oversight. The final chapter addresses the government's ongoing reforms aimed at bolstering financial support for sustainable development, with a focus on market and consumer protection. Ultimately, this thesis assesses the effectiveness of the regulatory framework for online financial-insurance platforms and explores the potential for the Chinese model to influence global practices in consumer protection.
