This paper proposes to analyze the legal framework for electronic commerce and electronic signatures in EU and Canada, with some reference also to the regulations currently existing in China and United States of America. It also deals with the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, which can be of inspiration for all the future trade agreements; by promoting the development of the e-commerce and facilitating cross-border transactions, this agreement enables and improves the opportunities of the smaller enter- prises to participate in the supply chains, helping them to realize the first easy benefits and savings.
