The paper highlights Georgii Adamovich’s relations with “Russkie zapiski [Russian Annals]” journal (Paris; Shanghai, 1937–1939). It briefly discusses three of four chosen aspects of the given subject: 1) Adamovich’s publications in the journal; 2) a review of Adamovich’s book “Na Zapade [In the West]” in “Russkie zapiski”; 3) Adamovich’s own reviews of the journal’s single issues in “Poslednie Novosti [Latest News]” newspaper. The essay examines in detail the fourth aspect of the writer’s relations with the journal — the mentioning of Adamovich in the editorial correspondence, kept in the Mark Vishniak papers at the Hoover Institution Archives (Stanford University). Adamovich’s name is quite often mentioned in the correspondence of the journal’s secretary M.V. Vishniak with M.N. Pavlovskii, the publisher from Shanghai, and with P.N. Miliukov, the editor-in-chief, — mainly as a possible contributor to the next issue or as a critic who reviewed a recent issue. The letters also contain evaluative statements on Adamovich’s creative work and personality. The correspondence clarifies why three review articles under the common title “From the World of Literature” written by Adamovich didn’t turn into a regular feature in “Russkie zapiski”.
