Tra oreficeria, numismatica e archeologia: una fibbia di tipo bizantino dalle tombe longobarde di Pisa

The last archaeological investigations in Piazza dei Miracoli (2003- 2009) added important information about the Lombard presence in Pisa from the early decades of the 7th century. A new burial was discovered which con- tained, among other artefacts, a small buckle of “byzantine type”, figured and with inscriptions. In this article the characteristics of this piece are analyzed in order to discuss its chronology and the ambit of its production, with the help of the archaeological data as well as of the jewellery and the coinage of the period.
