Collezioni, Servizi, Persone: il progetto della biblioteca e le sue criticità

Collections, services, and people are three key words that, in the various connotations of their meaning, seem to encompass, if not all, most of the components that define the very mission of the library. However, if we want to consider only some of the most critical aspects that, despite the constant commitment of the library community, affect the library's functions and activities on a daily basis, it appears useful to focus on the actual availability of bibliographic information that represents the collections and on the provision of services and resources that are truly accessible to all people, regardless of their abilities.

Collezioni, servizi e persone sono tre parole chiave che, nelle diverse connotazioni del loro significato, sembrano racchiudere, se non tutte, la maggior parte delle componenti che definiscono la mission stessa della biblioteca. Tuttavia, volendo considerare solo alcuni degli aspetti più critici che, nonostante il costante impegno della comunità bibliotecaria, incidono quotidianamente sulle funzioni e sulle attività della biblioteca, appare utile soffermarsi sulla reale disponibilità delle notizie bibliografiche che rappresentano le collezioni e sulla predisposizione di servizi e risorse che siano realmente fruibili da tutte le persone, indipendentemente dalle loro abilità.
