This paper examines some famous verses from ancient Egyptian poetry, between the Middle and New Kingdom, for a critical reading that highlights some possible literary themes that have never been studied in the case of pharaonic literature. In this way, it becomes clear that many of the literary themes whose paternity is usually attributed to the classical world – Latin and Greek – were in fact present in Egypt, many centuries earlier. This is not meant to allude to the direct influence of one culture on the other, but simply to emphasize how certain ways of doing literature are typical of human sensibilities of all times and can be found in different places and at different times.

Abstract
This paper examines some famous verses from ancient Egyptian poetry, between the Middle and New Kingdom, for a critical reading that highlights some possible literary themes that have never been studied in the case of pharaonic literature. In this way, it becomes clear that many of the literary themes whose paternity is usually attributed to the classical world – Latin and Greek – were in fact present in Egypt, many centuries earlier. This is not meant to allude to the direct influence of one culture on the other, but simply to emphasize how certain ways of doing literature are typical of human sensibilities of all times and can be found in different places and at different times.Pubblicazioni consigliate
