Klaus Stern e il diritto costituzionale e amministrativo europeo (un omaggio al Maestro) = Klaus Stern and European constitutional and administrative law (a tribute to the Maestro)

The purpose of this short contribution is to pay tribute to the well-known German academic Klaus Stern, whose death in January 2023 has left in numerous ways an insurmountable vacuum. Particularly renowned in Germany and internationally is his dedication to identifying and analysing issues pertaining to the foundational problems of constitutional law. His interest in (constitutional) European law is a lesser-known but no less significant area of study. For this reason, the primary emphasis of my analysis will be on this particular facet of his scientific output, with the intention of emphasising his consistent and scientifically informed adherence to the European Union’s progression throughout his scholarly career, accompanying each stage of its development.

Scopo di questo breve contributo è di rendere omaggio alla figura del notissimo accademico tedesco Klaus Stern, che è venuto a mancare il 5 gennaio 2023 lasciando un vuoto per molti versi incolmabile. Egli è noto, in Germania come all’estero, in particolare per il suo impegno nell’identificare ed analizzare le questioni relative ai problemi fondamentali del diritto costituzionale. Meno nota, ma non meno rilevante, è invece l’attenzione che egli ha dedicato al diritto (costituzionale) europeo. Ragione per cui la mia analisi sarà focalizzata soprattutto su questo specifico aspetto della sua produzione scientifica, per tentare di mettere in evidenza come egli abbia seguito e accompagnato scientificamente lo sviluppo dell’Unione europea per tutta la sua carriera accademica, seguendone ed accompagnandone ogni passo del suo progressivo sviluppo.
