Reminiscence, Eros, and Human Reason: Franco Trabattoni’s “Plato”. This article aims to provide an analysis of the cornerstones upon which Franco Trabattoni builds his reading of Plato’s philosophy (the Socratic legacy and the dialogical form of his writings, his dialectical relation with the Sophists and the proponents of the archaic tradition, the role played by Forms, the Recollection theory and his account of the possibilities and boundaries of human reason). Following the path marked by these cor- nerstones, an image of Plato as a metaphysical philosopher but not as a dogmatic one emerges. Trabattoni’s book conveys a Plato deeply convinced that philosophy – striving for wisdom and incessant practice of the logos – is the only road to lead man as close to the truth as is enough to defend and justify his own judgment and his actions in the world.

Abstract
Trabattoni’s book conveys a Plato deeply convinced that philosophy – striving for wisdom and incessant practice of the logos – is the only road to lead man as close to the truth as is enough to defend and justify his own judgment and his actions in the world.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
