The article discusses the contribution of the growth model approach to the analysis of political economies by highlighting the novelty of an analytical framework which includes the international integration of national economic systems and the benefits of introducing the role of aggregate demand in sustaining and shaping economic growth trajectories. It suggests that an integration of demand- and supplyside approaches would represent a particularly promising perspective and advocates for the development of a specific focus on agency in explaining the specificities of each national economic systems and their global integration.

Abstract
