Le pratiche di green management nelle aziende sanitarie: dalle strategie all’implementazione delle azioni in IRCCS Humanitas

This contribution aims to provide an overview of green management strategies applied by healthcare organizations to reduce environmental footprint, deepening the green practices adopted by Humanitas Research Hospital. The article first explains the main environmental challenges faced by the healthcare sector and the International and European policies in this field. Second, it identifies three categories of practices that characterize green management: waste management, green building, and energy & water consumption management. Then, the study analyses the practices adopted by Humanitas Research Hospital for each of the three levers, highlighting that green management practices embedded in corporate strategy can improve the efficiency of operations and build a more sustainable environment to protect the health of patients and personnel.

Il presente contributo intende offrire una panoramica sulle strategie di green management per ridurre l’impronta ambientale delle aziende sanitarie, con un approfondimento delle azioni adottate dall’IRCCS Humanitas in questo campo. Dopo aver esposto le principali sfide ambientali affrontate dal settore sanitario e presentato una breve disamina delle politiche a livello internazionale ed europeo, l’articolo identifica tre categorie di pratiche che caratterizzano il green management: 1) gestione dei rifiuti, 2) progettazione di infrastrutture ospedaliere ecocompatibili, 3) gestione energetica e del consumo di acqua. Lo studio analizza le azioni finora intraprese dall’IRCCS Humanitas rispetto a tali tre leve, evidenziando come incorporare le pratiche di green management nella pianificazione strategica contribuisca a migliorare l’efficienza delle operations delle aziende sanitarie e a creare un ambiente più sostenibile a tutela della salute dei pazienti e del personale sanitario.
