In this review, the authors reported the most recent advancements in the use of US for the assessment of joints in the field of rheumatologic conditions. Furthermore, they have also reported the most recent classifications and guidelines that can be used to categorize US findings for both clinical and research purpose. They envision that the emerging role of US in this setting will be further consolidated in the next years.

Abstract
