Reproduction of the unpublished correspondence of Petr Bitsilli and Vladimir Veidle from 1933 to 1937, kept in the Manuscript department of the Push- kin House (Saint Petersburg) and in the Bakhmeteff Archive (New York). The intro- ductory article discusses the personal relationship of both scholars on the basis of their comments about each other in book reviews and in the letters of both of them addressed to other people. The letters published below add new particulars to the creative biography of P. M. Bitsilli and V. V. Veidle; they confirm the general picture of a great intellectual proximity which arises on the basis of their reciprocal assess- ments in printed sources.
