The essay examines the staging of Odyssey directed by Robert Wilson, analyzing some passages of the structural metamorphosis suffered by Homer's poem up to the review of Armitage that inspires the performance — very successful — staged for the first time in October 2012 at the National Theater of Greece, then debuting at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan in April 2013 and then replicating its presence, also in Milan, on the occasion of Expo 2015. In the case of Odyssey, in fact, the image, the sound, even the actor's bodies no longer constitutes the perfect pattern on which the significance of the word is inserted: the very word becomes the setting for a world of feelings that lives again in the lightness of an ancient fable, fossil of an age that is disappeared, but is recreated in the audience’s imagination.
