Practices of inclusion and exclusion determine current political discourses by enabling or deny ing participation in groups of speakers. These practices can be traced in social media insofar as they are understood as media identity spaces. We want to transfer the concept of identity spaces to social media spaces by analyzing German and Italian Twitter comments to show to what ex tent discourse practices of inclusion and exclusion open or close these spaces.
