This paper illustrates some aspects of the controversial relations between statistical competence and trustfulness in results, mainly from the point of view of the statistical profession with respect to new professions in the Big Data era. Who is a statistician? How can she/he considered trustful? What is the relationship between being a statistician and, say, a data scientist? These are among the questions we try to answer in this paper.
