The recent archaeological investigations in the area of the main urban sanctuary are contributing significantly to our understanding of the considerable transformations of the urban landscape of Selinunte in the Archaic and Classical periods. This paper discusses, in particular, the transformation of the southern urban hill into the acropolis, through the systematic monumentalization of its sacred areas.
