Stratigrafie della Gran Conquista de Ultramar

The essay is dedicated to an overall reconsideration of the relationships between the "Gran Conquista de Ultramar" and its sources represented by the Oitanic crusade chronicles, in particular the "Chronique" and the "Continuation d'Ernoul" and the "Continuation of Acre », which have been object of recent studies. Taking advantage of these, we can detect the proximity of the Castilian text to a few copies of the French works, produced in an atelier located in one of the Latin Outremer: we can therefore suggest also for this work, as it happened with the "Libro del Tesoro", the passage of a manuscript from one end of the Mediterranean to the other, which contributed to settle in the various sections of the Iberian version different points of view on the events, as well as informations of ultramarine origin that seem to lack in the French texts.

Il saggio è dedicato a una riconsiderazione complessiva delle relazioni della «Gran Conquista de Ultramar» con le cronache di crociata oitaniche che ne sono una fonte chiave, in particolare la «Chronique» e la «Continuation d’Ernoul» e la «Continuazione di Acri», oggetto di recentissimi studi. Si individua così la prossimità del testo castigliano con un gruppo ridotto di testimoni delle opere francesi riconducibili a un atelier collocato in uno dei regni latini d'Oltremare: di qui l'ipotesi che anche per quest'opera, come per il «Libro del Tesoro», sia avvenuto il passaggio di un codice da un estremo all'altro del Mediterraneo, che ha contribuito a sedimentare nella varie sezioni della versione iberica punti di vista differenti sulle vicende narrate, oltre a notizie di provenienza ultramarina che paiono essere venuti a mancare nelle fonti francesi.
