In this chapter, the author argues that philosophy can be thoroughly seen as semiotics. Following Peirce, a thought can be considered as a sign, such as: 1) a reference to something else, or a transit; 2) a continuum, that implies the absence of any division or break; 3) a relative, in a logical sense; 4) a habit of response to living problems. Peirce overcomes the representationalist and dictionary view of knowledge.

Abstract

In this chapter, the author argues that philosophy can be thoroughly seen as semiotics. Following Peirce, a thought can be considered as a sign, such as: 1) a reference to something else, or a transit; 2) a continuum, that implies the absence of any division or break; 3) a relative, in a logical sense; 4) a habit of response to living problems. Peirce overcomes the representationalist and dictionary view of knowledge.
