A new WEB-GIS service has been developed in order to manage the field distribution of livestock manure during winter, in accordance with the European regulation. Based on high resolution historical and forecast weather data and soil hydrological features, the service models the soil water content and the resulting soil praticability with a spatial resolution of 4 km2. Model outputs, aggregated at the municipal scale, will be published twice a week, providing the distribution permission for the following 3 (or 4, depending on the day of issue) days and a further tendency. Information will be delivered to the farmers and the Community by means of the WEB-GIS application and the mobile app “Nitrati”.
