Idealismo pragmatico e ontologia dinamica. La metafisica di Charles S. Peirce

The intent of this essay is twofold: from one side, I will offer a survey of what Peirce calls scientific or pragmatic metaphysics, a metaphysics that can withstand the pragmatic proof; on the other, I want to go deep inside Peirce’s ontology and his radical and innovative interpretation of reality. Reality has a forward reference, for Peirce: it is not here, it is a «future event», as he repeats in many passages. It constantly is in a state of incipiency, in a nascent state, in «an infinite process of beginning». More specifically, reality concerns the practices of inquirers that shape their conception of reality and the community’s hope that will continue to hold it as true. This socialistic, agapastic and mellonized ( from the Greek «about to be») conception of reality leads to a dynamic ontology that completely revolutionizes the ancient metaphysic foundationalism.
