The Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011 (adopted as part of the coalition agreement between the Conservative and the Liberal-Democratic Parties) has been just repealed by the Dissolution and Calling Act 2022. The new reform (or step back) has a major impact on the British constitution since it revives the former prerogative power of dissolution and, subsequently, cuts away the role of Parliament in the dissolution process. Moreover, the Dissolution and Calling Act sizes, if necessary, the role of Courts settling (through an ouster clause) that dissolution of Parliament is not reviewable by Courts. It is possible to argue that the new Act does not only repeal the Fixed-term Parliaments Act but it represents the first step for a new season of constitutional reform for strengthening the Prime Minister/Executive role. After all, it is not all quiet on the western front
