The request or need for breast implants (BI) has certainly increased over the years. The fact that they are traceable makes them a significant element for personal identification. We present the first published forensic case in which breast implants on a severely traumatised victim were useful for a quick and cheap personal identification. We also discuss, from a literature study, the issue of traceability and the interest of BI for positive identification purposes within the European community.

Abstract
The request or need for breast implants (BI) has certainly increased over the years. The fact that they are traceable makes them a significant element for personal identification. We present the first published forensic case in which breast implants on a severely traumatised victim were useful for a quick and cheap personal identification. We also discuss, from a literature study, the issue of traceability and the interest of BI for positive identification purposes within the European community.Pubblicazioni consigliate
