I popoli indigeni e il Bicentenario Argentino

The participation of indigenous peoples to the celebrations for the Bicentenary of the independence of Argentina provides an opportunity both for briefly reviewing the relationship between indigenous peoples and the Argentine State (representing the other side of the migration policy promoted in the late nineteenth century by the government of Buenos Aires) and for illustrating the most recent measures taken by President Fernández in the field of indigenous rights, followig the visibility gained by them during the Bicentenary. Those measures, however, demonstrate the extreme difficulty the government faces in fully implementing the indigenous rights recognized by the legal system in the middle of the 90s.
