The aim of this lecture is to present an updated overview on present possibilities of rehabilitation with implant-supported prostheses of patients presenting with atrophic edentulous ridges. The following topics will be analyzed: 1. treatment planning 2. rationale in choosing among different grafting materials 3. possibilities and limits of autogenous bone 4. possibilities and limits of non-autogenous grafting materials 5. bone harvesting from intraoral sites: surgical procedures and identification/protection of dangerous anatomical structures 6. management of grafts and soft tissues to optimize results 7. management of patients during the healing phases 8. timing of implant placement and prosthetic rehabilitation 9. results, literature review, and conclusion the lecture will be supported by videos showing anatomical dissections on cadaver and surgical procedures on real patients.
