Fracture healing with elastic (Hoffmann's external fixation device and Ender's nail) and rigid (compression plates) osteosynthesis is widely analysed. Advantages of physiological healing with elastic osteosynthesis and disadvantages of primary bone repair with compression plates are considered. The indications of different techniques of osteosynthesis are presented. The analysis of the observed cases show that tibial and fibular shaft fractures treated by elastic osteosynthesis heal more rapidly and with better results.
