This paper presents the design process of a collaborative knowledge management system in archaeology for supporting the decipherment of non-verbal markings (sigla). The approach has been developed in the frame of the IES (International Etruscan Sigla) project, which involves experts from American and Italian universities. On the basis of the approach, the IESP System has been designed through a participatory approach and developed.
