The aim was to evaluate the effect of dietary antioxidant on total blood antiradicalic activity in post weaning piglets undergone to induced stress. At weaning 26 piglets of an average body weight of 9 kg were assigned to two dietary treatments: control diet and diet supplemented with natural extract titrated in verbascoside (5 mg/kg feed). At 21 d the floor area available was reduced from 0.24 to 0.16 m2/piglet and after 14 d the initial condition was restored. Blood samples were taken from 11 piglets per treatment at 21, 25, 35 d and 49 after weaning for determination of total blood antiradicalic activity with KRL test. The antiradicalic activity of whole blood and red blood cells (RBC) was not affected by dietary treatment (P<0.05). The sampling time affected both parameters (P<0.05). The orthogonal contrast showed a reduction (P<0.05) in blood and RBC antiradicalic activity due to space reduction (21 vs 25 d).
