Tra interrogazione e silenzio : la tematizzazione dell'origine nell'ermeneutica di Edmond Jabès

The paper focuses on the link between the hermeneutic conception of Edmond Jabès and the way in which, in his work, beginning from interrogation and silence, he treats the theme of origin. Particularly - also in the light of the tragic event of the Shoah - the author underlines how Jabès tries to break the traditional image of divinity. Through numerous rhetorical devices, Jabès loads with contradictory attributions the term "God", emptying it of every meaning. Nevertheless, having cleared the field from every possible categorization, the divin nothing and silence of the origin emerge as the privileged place where sense is born, assuring in their potentiality the infinite polysemy of the text and representing the archetype of the ethics underlying every hermeneutic act.
