Abstract
A control of the authority during the imperial period on the circulation and use both in Italy and in the provinces of some rare statuary types of classical age is supposed on the ground of the distribution of the copies and related ancient contexts. Here are taken into consideration as examples Myron’s works (Dyscobolos, Athena and Marsyas, “Amelung Athlete”), the Amazons of the Ephesos competition Polykleitos’s Doryphoros and Diadoumenos. In Italy such subjects were exhibited in imperial villas and palaces or in monuments of imperial commission; in the provinces they are quite rare and connected with important cities and public monumentsPubblicazioni consigliate
