The current paper describes the creation of a corpus of tweets in Italian written by Italian and Slovakian students. The tweets were elicited by asking the students to summarise in tweets (target texts) two source texts in Italian, i.e. a poem and a newspaper article. Qualitative analysis of the target texts highlighted three textual parameters whose combination resulted in a taxonomy of eight textual classes. The analysis of the distribution of the textual classes showed that it varied according to genre of the source texts and student group, which con- firms the validity of the proposed taxonomy.
