Abstract

In medicine and related fields marked gender-based differences have been found in the epidemiology, clinical manifestations and therapy of diseases. Many emotions, especially fear and sadness, are reported more frequently by women than men. We found an age-related gender difference in reporting ictal fear; among adults, ictal fear was reported more commonly by women than men, while the difference was not significant among children. These findings were confirmed by a review of the literature.
