This article presents the results of the study on the animal remains dated to the Final Bronze Age found in the ustrinum of Vadena (Pfatten) near Bolzano. There are about 86 bone remains found completely burnt. Out of the 86 bones 46 are astragali, mostly fragmented, of goat/sheep, ox and red deer. In some cases the astragali show evidence of holes or modifications. The animal bones seem to be linked in part to offerings laid inside the grave and in part to offerings connected to the funeral rituals. The anthropological study carried out on almost 15000 bone remains for a total weight of 12.5 Kilos, verified that in the studied area at least 8 individuals of various ages and gender had been cremated. They were at first positioned face upwards and then completely burnt on funeral piles where high temperatures were reached.
