Occupational hazards continue to account for illness and mortality worldwide. The evaluation of the burden of different occupational diseases and hazards is primarily affected by the Jack of a common def inition of .. occupational disease" and the absence of shared diagnostic criteria between different countries. ICD1 1 and the new ILO list of Occupational Diseases adopted in 2010 represent the latest worldwide available consensus documents tor diagnosis, reporting and prevention of diseases caused by work. In order to deve/op an harmonized approach (agreed diagnostic and exposure criteria) to unify different approaches and procedures tor diagnosis an ILO working group was appointed in 201 1 with the task of preparing documents on diagnostic and exposure criteria tor each of the diseases/entities in the ILO list. The work is being finalized now and represent a joint effort of experts, volunteering scientists and technician of al/ areas of the world.
