Abstract
Taking as its starting point an anonymous epigram from the Palatine Anthology (Anonymous V, 205, 1) in which reference is made to a iunx crossed by a thread of purple, the article reflects on the use of magic tools in the field of erotic enchantments. Literary and iconographic testimonies are analysed and a hermeneutic filigree linked to the movement (centripetal and centrifugal) of objects is suggested as an effective way to bring back the beloved. The instrument of the iunx (in itself also a bird and a nymph) is investigated with greater interest, through the reconstruction of a dossier of ancient and comparative ethnographic evidence.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
