Several studies on Porcine Respiratory and Reproductive Syndrome virus (PRRSV) have been recently addressed to a better knowledge of the immune response in infected animals. In particular, research efforts are focused on cell-mediated immunity (CMI) including cytokine secretion. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the susceptibility to PRRSV infection of different purebred pig lines based on clinical, virological and immunological investigations.

Abstract

Several studies on Porcine Respiratory and Reproductive Syndrome virus (PRRSV) have been recently addressed to a better knowledge of the immune response in infected animals. In particular, research efforts are focused on cell-mediated immunity (CMI) including cytokine secretion. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the susceptibility to PRRSV infection of different purebred pig lines based on clinical, virological and immunological investigations.
