La società municipale pisana tra nuove e vecchie iscrizioni

This paper aims at presenting a framework of the ruling class in Pisa starting from the Augustan age. In this sense the names are crucial of the decuriones present at the drafting of the two decrees in memory of Lucius and Gaius Caesar (CIL, XI 1420-1421). To the three IIviri of the colony known from the decreta must be added an inscription from the Augustan age concerning another IIvir (AE 1985, 388). There is no evidence suggesting that the settlement of veterans in the town, which took place between 42 and 27 BC, caused a profound change in the ruling class in Pisa during the Augustan age. The inscriptions relating to magistrates in the Imperial age, despite some evidence that records l’ordo decurionum, together with the populus (CIL, XI 1429) and the plebs Pisanorum (“SCO” 59 [2013], pp. 235-238), are rare. These two texts are examined afresh, with new supplements being advanced.

Con questo contributo si intende proporre un quadro della classe dirigente pisana a partire dall'età augustea. Fondamentali a tale riguardo sono i due decreti decurionali in memoria di Lucio e Gaio Cesari (CIL XI 1420-1421) che riportano i nomi dei decurioni presenti alla stesura dei due documenti. Ai tre IIviri della colonia noti dai decreta, si aggiunge un'iscrizione relativa a un altro IIvir (AE 1985,388). Dalle testimonianze esaminate non emergono elementi che inducano a ritenere che la deduzione dei veterani nella città, avvenuta tra 42 e 27 a.C. avesse determinato un profondo mutamento della classe dirigente di Pisa in età augustea. Molto scarse sono le iscrizioni relative a magistrati pisani in età imperiale, sebbene alcune testimonianze ricordino l' ordo decurionum insieme con il populus (CIL XI 1429) e la plebs Pisanorum (SCO, 59, 2013, pp. 235-238). Questi due testi vengono ripresi in esame avanzando nuove proposte di integrazione.
