The study deals with emerging trends in the expression of deontic modality in Ukrainian legal dicourse and specifically with two future forms, the synthetic and analytic, which unlike in other East Slavic languages, can occur with verbs in the imperfective aspect. The findings confirm an intense revitalisation of the synthetic form and suggest the likelihood of a progressive functional divergence of the two forms in legal-diplomatic Ukrainian in the future.

Abstract
The study deals with emerging trends in the expression of deontic modality in Ukrainian legal dicourse and specifically with two future forms, the synthetic and analytic, which unlike in other East Slavic languages, can occur with verbs in the imperfective aspect. The findings confirm an intense revitalisation of the synthetic form and suggest the likelihood of a progressive functional divergence of the two forms in legal-diplomatic Ukrainian in the future.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
