It is held as a common opinion that Nietzsche’s the Birth of Tragedy elaborates a conception which has nothing to do with Kantian Philosophy. It will be my contention that the influence of Kant on the Birth of Tragedy was far more extensive than has previously been suspected. I will focus on four points: the idea of the metaphysischer Wahn, the opposition between Glauben and Wissen, the image of the starry heaven and the theory of generation. I will show that these Kantian doctrines directly contributed to the development of core concepts of the Birth of Tragedy, and provided a very deep stimulus to Nietzsche’s own reflections.

Abstract
It is held as a common opinion that Nietzsche’s the Birth of Tragedy elaborates a conception which has nothing to do with Kantian Philosophy. It will be my contention that the influence of Kant on the Birth of Tragedy was far more extensive than has previously been suspected. I will focus on four points: the idea of the metaphysischer Wahn, the opposition between Glauben and Wissen, the image of the starry heaven and the theory of generation. I will show that these Kantian doctrines directly contributed to the development of core concepts of the Birth of Tragedy, and provided a very deep stimulus to Nietzsche’s own reflections.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
