Abstract
Travelling is of great importance in the intellectual and literary experience of Carmen de Burgos (Almería 1867-Madrid 1932), a prolific educator, journalist, novelist and essayist who was strongly committed to feminist causes. In the summer of 1914 she visited Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden, and Norway), publishing articles later collected in a book. This study follows that journey and shows the author’s observations. The Andalusian writer is interested not only in landscapes and culture, but also in social organisation, status of women and gender equality. She finds in these countries the paradigm of a modern, free and independent woman, with full rights, which could also be applied to Spain.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
