Recently our research group was very active in the development of composite synthetic procedures for the obtainment of nanocryst. tailored TiO2 with controlled phase compn. (anatase/brookite/rutile), morphol. (surface area, porosity, etc.), and surface state. We report on the photocatalytic activity of these samples in the NOx degrdn. and then compare it with that of com. samples with the aim to highlight general criteria in the choice of the best materials for photocatalytic air purifn. processes. Selected samples were also employed in the gas phase degrdn. of toluene.
