The contribution, which was prepared for a Conference of the International Institute for Labour Studies in Geneva, focuses on challenges for research and action under the ILO's Decent Work Agenda which regard advanced countries, in particular European countries. The questions explored are those of informal work and the underground economy, the regulation of contingent forms of work, the dilemmas unions have to face in the representation of atypical workers.
