Abstract
The communication of the faith joins indissolubly the discussion on the language. In the eighteenth century Lodovico Antonio Muratori offers a persuasive theoretical reflection on the nature of eloquence and on the diaphasic modulation of the language of devotion. Far from a monolithic representation of communication Muratori models his speech, adapting it to his audience and bending it to the goals set. The combination of a text addressed to priests (Discorsi agli ecclesiastici) and one addressed to the general public (Vita dell’umile servo di Dio Benedetto Giacobini) testify the modernity of this author and his subtle communicative intelligence.Pubblicazioni consigliate
