Silk fibroin (SF) is a natural fibrous protein created by the Bombyx mori silkworm. Electrospinning, freeze drying and salt leaching are commonly used technique to form SF 3D-scaffolds. It is well established that scaffold architecture can control tissue growth (Wendorff et al., 2008). The present work reports the impact of freeze drying method on the scaffold architecture and mechanical properties aiming to obtain a sponge- or oriented lamellar-like scaffolds.

Abstract
Silk fibroin (SF) is a natural fibrous protein created by the Bombyx mori silkworm. Electrospinning, freeze drying and salt leaching are commonly used technique to form SF 3D-scaffolds. It is well established that scaffold architecture can control tissue growth (Wendorff et al., 2008). The present work reports the impact of freeze drying method on the scaffold architecture and mechanical properties aiming to obtain a sponge- or oriented lamellar-like scaffolds.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
